The history of cosmetic from ancient Indians

Beauty have different meaning from different words like, bealte means ‘’physical attractive’’, and also ‘’goodness,courtesy, ‘’from Anglo French 14C, Old French Biaute means‘’Beauty, Seductiveness, Beautiful person”12C.

Beautification = Beauty+Fication mean ‘’act of making beautiful + a making or causing’’from1680s.

According to ‘’Kaunda B. Patkar’’ from (Herbal Cosmetics in ancient India) cosmetology is originated in Egypt and India. But from the earliest record cosmetology and their all application starts from 2500 and 1500 B.C approximately to Indus Valley civilization. In those time the different Lepas (face pack or mask) were used for beautification in all seasons, from 1500 years old book of Ayurveda six different formulation given for six different seasons specially that time, oil (Tailams) or ghee (Ghritas) were used for facial beautification. Depilatory agent, deodorants and face powder etc. were also used in naturals forms at that

time. It appears that beautification process were started from ancient time by Indians.

Experiment in cosmetology

Raja Sarfoji he was the king of Tamilnadu (1788 -1832 ruled time).

He was architect of great library of Sarfoji’s Saraswati Mahal. He was so interested in Medical science and research. Raja Sarfoji established a great herbarium in his palace where a small nursery which supply plants for experiments, to the Mahal.

Lip care: According to him cracked lips is spoiled face beauty and it is so painful. If the rind of Bel fruit (Aegle marmelos corr.) powder mixed in women milk and make a paste and applied on your lip for 10 days, then the cracking will stop.

Skin care: Fair skin always been a part of attraction in Indians. for a good or smooth skin ‘’Exfoliating Scrub’’ is useful,from ancient time for smooth skin .They were used the roots of Kosta, til seeds, the leaves of Sirisa, the leave of Chopda and the wood of Deodar and roasted all of this mixture and mixed in cake of buffalo dung and applied on face, In three days you found a good result.

Hair care: For dandruff Khas-Khas powder in milk mix well and applied on the scalp for best result.

Skin Rejuvenation Process from Ancient Time

Rejuvenation process is a very famous treatment it’s called in common language Kayakalpa.

Kaya means Body and Kalpa means strong as stone .

This treatment was used for younger look,that time colors were only used for hair and skin. But now advanced technology are used in Skin Rejuvenation process.
